Mayo Clinic ranked No. 1 hospital in Florida by U.S. News & World Report (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — Mayo Clinic’s Jacksonville operation was ranked No. 1 in Florida in the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” rankings.
It has ranked No. 1 in the state for five of the past six years as well as No. 1 in Jacksonville. Mayo Clinic in Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, ranked No. 1 in the nation.
“We are once again honored and humbled to be recognized as the No. 1 hospital in the state of Florida,” Mayo Clinic in Florida CEO Dr. Kent Thielen said in a release. “This ranking is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire staff who continuously provide the highest quality of care and compassion to our patients every day. This relentless commitment to our values and the needs of the patient are the foundation of our culture and ongoing excellence.”
Mayo Clinic in Florida also ranked nationally among the top 50 hospitals in seven specialties: cancer, urology, diabetes and endocrinology, orthopedics, gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, and neurology and neurosurgery.
In addition, Mayo Clinic in Florida was rated high-performing in pulmonology and lung surgery.
Other local hospitals were also lauded for their care.
Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville was named No. 2 in the region and nationally ranked in two children’s specialties.
UF Health Jacksonville was No. 3 in the region with a national ranking in one adult specialty.
Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside was ranked fourth in the region.
Mayo Clinic in Florida plans to continue to grow in the coming years, investing more than $400 million in capital projects and add more than 360,000 square feet of space for patient care, biomedical research and technology.
Jacksonville’s other major medical providers are also planning or currently building new facilities in the area. Baptist, Ascension St. Vincent’s and Jacksonville Memorial Hospital all have active projects in St. Johns County. Flagler Hospital (based in St. Augustine) is also expanding and has partnered with UF Jacksonville on a project at Durbin Park.
