Saint-Gobain North America will be doubling the capacity of its CertainTeed facility, expanding its warehouse and manufacturing space.
The investment includes energy-saving equipment, including a low-energy board dryer and a mill system that it said will be be nearly 40% more energy efficient than the existing system.
The project has received more than $7 million in incentives from the state and Putnam County.
“Today’s announcement reaffirms our commitment to providing quality gypsum wallboard products to our customers, while remaining focused on sustainability and minimizing our carbon footprint,” CertainTeed Interior Products Group Vice President Jay Bachmann said in a statement. “We look forward to growing our already robust presence in Palatka and Putnam County and would like to thank the State of Florida and all of our partners for their support to make this expansion a reality.”
More than 150 people work at the Palatka facility, which is one of the largest gypsum plants in the Southeast. It has been in operation for more than two decades.
