Jacksonville medical supply company gets $50 million federal contract (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — The Jacksonville-based subsidiary of an international medical technology group has received a $50 million contract from the Department of Defense.
KLS Martin received the fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to provide cranial and maxillofacial procedural packages and supplies. The five-year contract ends May 2, 2029.
The deal for the supplies, which will be used in surgeries of the face and skull, was a sole-source award. The supplies will be used by the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and civilian agencies.
KLS Martin, based in Germany, has had a Jacksonville presence since 1993, when it opened its North American sales office in the area. In 2016, it established its first U.S. manufacturing operation here, saying at the time that it was investing $5 million and creating 25 jobs.
In 2019, the surgical supply company opened its North American training facility in the area.
Last year, the company embarked on a $16 million expansion of the site, adding a three-story addition to its manufacturing and office building at 11228 St. Johns Industrial Parkway.
That project added 53,203 square feet of space to the facility, with W.B. Huff Construction Services LLC as the contractor.
