Feeding Northeast Florida opens new headquarters in Northwest Jacksonville (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Daily Record) — Feeding Northeast Florida opened its new 110,000-square-foot warehouse and campus July 18 in Northwest Jacksonville.
It is at 5245 Old Kings Road near Interstates 10, 95 and 295.
The Jacksonville-based food bank serves a 12-county region that includes 272,00 food-insecure individuals. Of those, 90,000 are children.
The project “represents a significant step forward in our mission to fight hunger in Northeast Florida,” said Susan King, president and CEO of Feeding Northeast Florida, in a news release.
“Big, complicated problems like food insecurity require big solutions, and this facility is our boldest step yet. It enables us to better serve our neighbors in need.”
The new campus is on 12 acres. The warehouse doubles the group’s storage capabilities.
For the first time, Feeding Northeast Florida will have all of its operations in one building. Until last year, it had staff and foodstuff in two separate facilities.
The facility cost $23 million. The money was raised through donations and a New Markets Tax Credit.
The new headquarters is a former window manufacturing facility. It will be managed by The Conlan Companies. It was designed by Thomas Duke Architect and Micamy Design Studio.
