Plans for Baptist Health medical campus in Silverleaf community in review (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Daily Record) — Plans are in review for Baptist Health to develop a medical campus in the Silverleaf community of St. Johns County.

The proposed 118,000-square-foot project includes a freestanding 24/7 Baptist/Wolfson Children’s Emergency Center, office space and a maintenance building. A helipad for air ambulance services and future expansions are also part of the plans submitted July 19.

The opening of the campus is expected in early 2026.

According to site plan, the emergency room will be 53,400 square feet, the medical offices 58,000 square feet and the maintenance building 6,700 square feet. The plan shows 552 parking spaces.

Baptist Health Properties Inc. is the landowner. It bought the 33.6-acre site in 2020 from White’s Ford Timber through Jacksonville-based the Hutson Companies for $11.5 million.

Jacksonville-based England-Thims & Miller Inc. is the engineer.

“The primary care offices will provide family medicine, pediatrics, and internal medicine services. Baptist Health is evaluating other specialty services based on the community’s health care needs,” according to a Baptist spokesperson. “The campus, featuring a patient-centered and environmentally friendly design, is planned to serve the needs of the growing community with space for two more healthcare buildings in the future.

“Baptist Health is committed to improving the health and wellness of the communities we serve. We look forward to bringing our high-quality and compassionate care to Silverleaf and western St. Johns County.”

The medical campus is east of St. Johns Parkway at the intersection of Silverlake Parkway, south of County Road 210. It is about 3 miles north of International Golf Parkway and Tocoi Creek High School.

“This will be momentous for that area,” said Sarah Arnold, St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners chair. “The area of World Golf Village does not have immediate access to emergency care. To have something in that immediate vicinity serving the community will change lives.”

The county’s Development Review Committee is scheduled to discuss the project at 9 a.m. Aug. 28 at 4040 Lewis Speedway in St. Augustine.
