Jacksonville tech, staffing firm executes consolidation strategy (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — When Billy Milam assumed the role of chief executive officer at Consulting Solutions earlier this year, he spoke candidly about what was next: consolidation.

Five months later, it arrived. The Jacksonville-based technology and staffing company this month unified its six legacy brands.

The decision migrates CSI, JDC Group, Meridian Technologies, iBridge Solutions, TEK Connexion and Empyrean beneath Consulting Solutions.

“Technology transformation is no longer happening one project at a time,” said Milam. “Our clients want partners who can help solve increasingly complex business challenges that span technologies, business functions, and industries, not simply implement individual solutions.”

Founded in 2005 and today backed by private equity group White Wolf Capital, Consulting Solutions has offices in Charlotte, North Carolina; and Arlington, Virginia. It’s a portfolio company of Miami-based private equity firm White Wolf Capital.

The company’s North American headquarters is a roughly 4,200-square-foot office at 8665 Baypine Road in Jacksonville, employing about 25 of the 105 internal staff across the country. Milam himself is based in Atlanta.

The past year has been a period of rapid change for the locally-based company, which has invested in its C-suite and expanded services. In June, the company brought in Steven Rudd, formerly with Akkodis North America, to be its new chief financial officer.

Today’s world of technology and staffing is undoubtedly volatile, leading Milam to look forward in two year increments.

“I don’t know what the world’s gonna look like in two years,” he told the Business Journal in February. “We’ve got to be ready to be able to be agile, nimble, progressive in adjusting to that dynamic change that we’re seeing.”

Consulting Solutions consolidation is a milestone in that forward-thinking process for Milam, who sees the company occupying an ever-more important role — a higher-level strategic partner to some of the nation’s largest companies.

That means solving a wide range of technology needs, from the most basic to most complex, he said, plus the next disruption not yet found.

The executive believes Consulting Solutions’ strength lies beyond simply supplying talent, framing it as a solutions-oriented partner that can help clients move faster than if they were alone.

Now, brand consolidation is Milam’s evolution designed to meet Consulting Solutions’ moment.
