Jacksonville wellness practice bets $1.7M on hyperbaric chambers and preventative care (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — Recovery technology of the future is here, and it’s already being used on patients in Northeast Florida.

Inside Well&You’s roughly 7,000-square-foot wound and vascular center in Fleming Island, opened earlier this year, a pair of hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers embody that larger bet on where healthcare is headed.

The Jacksonville-based practice, founded by husband-wife duo Dr. Ragu Murthy and Priyanka Ghosh-Murthy in 2022, specializes in minimally invasive care. From its three locations, Well&You operates from the belief that wellness is no longer a personal pursuit but a business imperative.

“For better or for worse, in our country, healthcare is provided by the employer,” said CEO Ghosh-Murthy, noting the core of that conversation is what businesses can do to retain top talent.

“‘Well, I give them good health benefits,’ but there’s another way to look at it too,” she added. “I want to give them useful health benefits, so that they are able to take care of themselves before it gets bad.”

Preventative care is a cornerstone of wellness to Well&You. Specifically, treating healthy people before a health issue arises is just as important as caring for them afterward. This early intervention and monitoring strategy is where the local company shines.

Infusing technology

Cutting-edge technology backed by clinical evidence sits in the center frame of Well&You’s vision for wellness.

The company has invested substantially in what it believes can help patients stay healthier, recover faster and sidestep more serious medical complications. More capital-intensive options include its two hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers.

Each chamber costs roughly $200,000, plus additional operating costs Well&You declined to disclose. Housed in Fleming Island, these systems include large oxygen tanks attached to the side of the building at 4565 U.S. Route 17.

The full buildout of that location was $1.7 million, represented by Om Ventures.

In essence, the chambers help patients’ bodies heal by having them breathe in a pressurized environment, which allows much higher levels of oxygen to reach damaged tissues than normal breathing can provide, explained Chief Medical Officer Murthy.

That extra oxygen can stimulate the growth of new blood vessels, reduce swelling, support natural healing processes and help fight certain infections, he said.

“The chambers are really good for people who’ve had surgeries and need to heal faster, heal more effectively,” said Ghosh-Murthy. “Folks who have radiation therapy or cancer, any surgery related to cancer, they go into these chambers and they heal faster.”

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers slot right into Well&You’s technology portfolio. Investments like those represent a broader philosophy focused on accelerating recovery and helping patients bounce back quicker.

Well&You is positioning itself squarely within this shift of wellness priorities.

Its vision may feel futuristic, but for the healthcare operator, that future has already taken shape. Especially in Fleming Island, it’s becoming part of the everyday business of health.
