Allegiant adds flights out of Jax in massive expansion announcement (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — Jacksonville is set to receive service to three new cities as part of Allegiant Air’s 44-route expansion.
Travelers flying out of Jacksonville can use Allegiant to fly to the Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) in Ohio, Des Moines International Airport (DSM) in Iowa and the Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) in Grand Rapids, Michigan starting in May 2025.
The new nonstop flights from Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) will operate on Thursdays and Sundays year-round. Flights to Des Moines begin May 22 next year and flights to the Akron-Canton area and Grand Rapids start on May 23, according to Allegiant.
Fares for the flights begin at $59.
“Allegiant has grown considerably through the years in Jacksonville and their low fares offer travelers the opportunity to visit our wonderful community, while offering Northeast Floridians the opportunity to visit some of their favorite places in the Midwest,” Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Mark VanLoh said.
Allegiant Air is the 7th largest carrier out of JIA and flew nearly 200,000 passengers in 2023, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Earlier this year, Allegiant began service from Jacksonville to Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania and McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The expansion by Allegiant ties the airline’s record for its largest in history.
