Baptist Health breaks ground on Seven Pines medical campus (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — Nine months after submitting site plans to the city, Baptist Health broke ground on its medical campus in southeast Jacksonville.

The campus, expected to open in spring of 2026, is located near Butler Boulevard and Interstate 295, just east of St. Johns Town Center, within the master-planned community of Seven Pines.

Baptist HealthPlace at Seven Pines will feature two medical office buildings. One will house its primary care practice with offices for family and internal medicine physicians and cardiologists.

It will also feature a wellness center offering health and wellness resources and programs.

Plans for the second building include a potential surgery center with imaging and laboratory services. The building currently underway has a construction cost of $32.3 million, according to a Baptist spokesperson. The second building’s cost was not disclosed.

“With the capacity to expand services over time, Baptist HealthPlace at Seven Pines is an investment in the long-term health and well-being of this community,” said Michael A. Mayo, president and CEO of Baptist Health in the release.

Situated at the center of Baptist’s other regional medical centers, it’s positioned to function as an outpatient hub for residents in need of preventative and ongoing health care services.

“We’re thrilled to be part of the Seven Pines community,” said Catherine Graham, senior vice president of clinical service lines and ambulatory business development for Baptist Health, in the release. “By situating the campus in this dynamic and high-traffic area of southeast Jacksonville, Baptist Health is making quality care conveniently available right where people live, work and thrive.”

The design of the Seven Pines campus was inspired by the master-planned community, a combination of residential and retail properties, aimed at blending into the surrounding landscape as a contemporary interpretation of historic industrial architecture, according to the release.

Baptist Health  bought the 10.5 acres for the campus in October 2021 for $10 million from Sawmill Timber LLC, which is associated with the Skinner family that owns multiple parcels of land in Seven Pines.
