Baptist Health launching new school to train students with a passion for direct patient care (Courtesy of Baptist Health) — Baptist Health of Northeast Florida has launched Baptist Health Clinical School and is opening its doors to welcome members of the public to its training courses for professional certifications. The new school has been provisionally licensed by the Florida Board of Nursing and the Commission for Independent Education. The first class being offered is a 15-week Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preparation course.
“We are building on the success we’ve had with training our team members and opening the same possibilities for anyone interested in starting or advancing their career in the healthcare field,” said Elizabeth Bruno, RN, MSN, vice president, chief learning officer, Baptist Health. “CNAs are essential members of a care team, and help ensure safe, quality care for our patients and their families. It is a great position for those who want to help provide direct patient care and can be a lifetime career or a step to further education or certification.”
Curriculum The program will prepare the student to take their CNA certification exam through the Florida Board of Nursing. Training will be:
- Comprised of classroom sessions, a skills lab, testing and clinicals within a hospital and a long-term care facility
- Teaching students to care for patients in all types of care settings
- A mix of members of the public and Baptist Health team members
Successful candidates have the opportunity to work at Baptist Health following certification, where they will also receive a year of mentoring within the health system. Once employed, Baptist Health offers team members education support as a benefit.
