Boeing lands $264 million Navy contract for work in Jacksonville (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Daily Record) — The U.S. Navy awarded a $264 million firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to Boeing for work in Jacksonville, according to a news release.
Under the contract, Boeing will conduct inspections, modifications and repairs to the F/A-18 E/F and EA-18G aircraft to include inner wing panel repairs in support of remanufacturing efforts to restore the inner wing panel service life projections to new design specifications.
Work on the jets will take place in several cities, with 65% of the work taking place in Jacksonville; 10% in St. Louis; 10% in Lemoore, California; 10% in Whidbey Island, Washington; and 5% in El Segundo, California.
Funds will be obligated on individual orders as they are issued, and no funds will be obligated at the time of award, the release says.
