Success Story – John Jones
CareerSource NEFL recently connected job seeker John Jones with a new position as a correctional officer at the Florida State Prison in Raiford, Florida just southwest of Jacksonville.
Jones, who moved to the area from north Atlanta in 2002 and lives in the Middleburg area, had worked for more than two years as a child protection investigator when he left the job in February to find a new position with a better work/life balance.
“I called through HOPE Florida to find another job that wouldn’t be so stressful, and had not heard of the organization until then,” Jones said. “But I came in and met with a workforce representative and he made a phone call. Then, the next day when I came in I met with Jeffrey Jones with the Florida Department of Corrections, who was there at the time, and I was hired on the spot. It happened pretty quickly.”
Jones expects is set to start in his new position at the end of the month.
