CareerSource Northeast Florida (CareerSource NEFL) is looking for Northeast Florida companies to serve as job sites for 16-to-19-year-olds as part in its CHOICES Youth Summer Internship Program.

“This program gives employers the chance to help students build the skills and confidence they need to enter the workforce,” said CareerSource NEFL President Bruce Ferguson. “Also, the CHOICES Program could result in a new hiring pipeline for participating employers. Studies have shown that many companies retain over 80 percent of their interns as entry-level hires.”

The CHOICES internship program will take place from June 6 to July 14, and companies can request a single intern or as many as the company needs. This career exploration program for students is available to any business located in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns counties.

Employers who would like to participate are asked to contact CareerSource NEFL via email at youthservices@careersourcenefl.com by Friday, March 11. They can also call 904-356-JOBS (5627) at extension 2240 for more information.

Through the summer youth opportunity program, CareerSource NEFL will pay a stipend to the intern and will pay for the student’s transportation, if needed. In addition, CareerSource NEFL will match the interns to worksites throughout Northeast Florida and manage the students and their schedules.

Prior to being placed with an employer, the student interns will complete background checks and drug screenings and receive work-readiness training. The student interns will also receive follow-up career planning after the internships to help them get onto a successful career path.

CareerSource NEFL is responsible for providing a trained workforce to the employers in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns counties. For more information, visit careersourcenefl.com.
