Jacksonville, Fla. (March 6, 2023) CareerSource Northeast Florida (CareerSource NEFL) is recruiting regional employers to serve as job sites for 16-to-19-year-olds as part of its CHOICES Youth Summer Internship Program.
The CHOICES internship program will take place this summer from June 5 to July 14, and companies can request a single intern or as many as the company needs. This career exploration program for students is available to any business located in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns counties.
CareerSource NEFL will pay a stipend to the intern and will pay for the student’s transportation, if needed. In addition, CareerSource NEFL will match the interns to worksites throughout Northeast Florida and manage the students and their schedules.
Employers who would like to participate are asked to contact CareerSource NEFL via email at youthservices@careersourcenefl.com by Monday, March 20. They can also call 904-356-JOBS (5627) at extension 2240 for more information.
“This program gives employers the chance to help students build the skills and confidence they need to enter the workforce,” said CareerSource NEFL President Bruce Ferguson. “Through the CHOICES Program, companies have the opportunity to help our next generation of employees build their skills and the confidence to enter the workforce.”
Taking part in CHOICES could result in a new hiring pipeline for participating employers. Studies have shown that many companies retain over 80 percent of their interns as entry-level hires.
CareerSource NEFL is responsible for providing a trained workforce to the employers in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns counties. For more information, visit careersourcenefl.com.
