HCA unveils $26M Orange Park freestanding ER (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — HCA Florida Healthcare introduced its newest location in Orange Park in December, growing its network of more than 350 freestanding emergency rooms across the state.
Called HCA Florida Royal Pines Emergency, the newest ER spans 10,860 square feet along the First Coast Expressway in Clay County, directly west from HCA Orange Park Hospital.
It cost roughly $26 million between construction and new equipment combined.
“Our new HCA Florida Royal Pines freestanding emergency room in OakLeaf Plantation is a vital addition that significantly enhances access to emergency care for our neighbors in Clay County,” said Chad Patrick, CEO of HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital. “As part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest system in the state, this facility ensures our community has seamless access to the comprehensive, statewide resources of a major network.”
Royal Pines has 10 private rooms, one trauma bay, a dedicated pediatric treatment room and an array of minimally invasive physicians, according to a release, among other services. If hospital care is needed, it has free transportation to HCA’s Orange Park hospital, roughly 10 miles away.
This latest freestanding ER builds on HCA’s expansion efforts last year, plus another opened to Yulee in March.
The project was developed in partnership with Jacksonville-based general contractor Charles Perry Partners and Tennessee-based Hereford Dooley Architects.
“The opening of HCA Florida Royal Pines Emergency represents our commitment to growing with the community and ensuring prompt access to critical services,” said Dr. Michael Euwema, medical director of emergency services for the new freestanding ER. “Our team is excited to offer our patients in the OakLeaf area the highest quality emergency services, backed by the comprehensive resources and medical expertise of HCA Florida Healthcare.”
