Jacksonville-based NXTPoint bets on growth with $20 million Tampa facility (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — While many logistics firms are pulling back amid economic uncertainty, Jacksonville-based NXTPoint Logistics is boldly doubling down — launching a $20 million, 193,000-square-foot warehouse in Tampa that promises to reshape logistics in the region.

The move, which will create up to 62 jobs, signals NXTPoint’s commitment to aggressive growth despite national economic headwinds.

Positioned strategically at the intersection of Interstates 4 and 75 and near Tampa International Airport and Port Tampa Bay, the new facility reflects the company’s belief that Florida is underserved in logistics infrastructure. For NXTPoint President Chad Warzecha, the investment isn’t just logistical — it’s symbolic, showcasing a decisive bet on Florida’s continued economic vitality while competitors hesitate.

“What it does for the brand is it just validates and reaffirms the commitment we’re leaning into growth at a time when other people are fearful,” Warzecha said.

In 2023, Jacksonville-based Suddath Cos. rebranded its logistics business into NXTPoint, a standalone entity, which it saw as a way to spur brand awareness while it aimed to grow the business.

The $20 million facility is set to be at a major junction of logistical assets in the Tampa area, near Interstates 4 and 75, along with the Tampa International Airport, Warzecha said.

Port Tampa Bay is also close to the facility.

“We can do a lot of things with it. We have an eye on e-commerce, specifically, we think we’re close to the airport, so we can get international air express out of there,” Warzecha said. “We can leverage a lot of the mile managed logistics business that we operate between the I-4 and the I -75 so it was just an ideal location for us.”

Choosing Tampa was part of a strategic focus on Florida, Warzecha said. The NXTPoint president pointed out Major 3PL hubs are often in New Jersey or Texas, rather than the company’s home state.

The Sunshine State is business friendly and experiencing massive population growth, he added, but people are making insufficient investments here.

“Florida is underserved as it relates to contract logistics. Most are in those other states because they think you got to be in the middle of the country, but Florida itself continues to grow,” Warzecha said.

The building is being used for companies requiring storage, distribution and fulfillment services, but Warzecha added that NXTPoint’s ability to adjust for different customers is a key feature of the facility.

“So we wanted to give a platform to the ability for customers to fit into our network, versus forcing customers to fit into our type of building,” Warzecha said.

Offering this flexibility is a key way for NXTPoint to distinguish itself from competitors.

The $20 million investment itself is important for companies to see amid economic uncertainty, the NXTPoint president said.

“So to me, it feels good to be in a growth mindset when you read, every day, the papers and the headlines and people are worried about their jobs and people are worried about spending money,” Warzecha said. “I hope that customers feel that from us that we’re not going to stop investing or (start) slowing their growth down.”
