Jacksonville, Fla. (Nov. 15, 2021) Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry has signed a proclamation identifying the week of Nov. 15 – 21 as National Apprenticeship Week in the city – coinciding with a new initiative launched by CareerSource Northeast Florida (CareerSource NEFL) to promote the benefits of apprenticeships for employers and job seekers.

“We appreciate the support of the mayor’s office in helping us to promote apprenticeships, which can provide a valuable workforce solution for many employers,” said CareerSource NEFL Apprenticeship Navigator Doreen Lund. “Apprenticeships offer employers a positive return on investment, improves their production capability and also helps them achieve diversity and retention goals.”

Lund notes that apprenticeships are beneficial for job seekers, as well.

“When you learn on the job, you do not have to incur college debt to gain new skills, and you are earning from day one,” she said.

CareerSource NEFL is hosting three events in November to reach potential employers and job seekers about established apprenticeship programs – and to identify employers in developing new apprenticeship programs at their companies.
