Jacksonville trucking firm expands capacity with acquisition of LTL company (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — A Jacksonville trucking company is expanding its service offerings through the acquisition of an Oregon trucking company that will give the local company more less-than-truckload capacity.

AGX Freight has bought A-Logistics LLC., a supply chain company founded in Bend, Oregon, five years ago with a focus on moving food from organic farms.

The company focuses on less-than-truckload shipments, with an emphasis on temperature controlled freight.

“As we continue to expand our service offerings, it was important to add a robust LTL service to our platform, which includes truckload, intermodal and expedited services,” AGC COO Ike Sherlock said in a statement. “With John (Cordell) and his team, we are more confident that our LTL service offering is a win for all parties involved.”

Cordell will become a vice president at AGX, saying on LinkedIn that the combination with AGX will “accelerate us with the existing LTL reefer national network, smallpack/fulfillment, and existing truck assets.”

“Our national LTL  service network, coupled with our 23 crossdocks located across the US, was a perfect fit with AGX’s transportation platform,” Cordell said in a statement. “The acquisition was a buy-in, not a buy-out. Our vision is similar and goals run parallel.”

AGC, based in Jacksonville, as 140 trucks and 22 offices, concentrated in the eastern U.S.
