Mayo Clinic opens Community Health Collaborative office downtown (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — Mayo Clinic opened its downtown 3,100-square-foot office in a city-owned building Tuesday.
Located in the Ed Ball Building on Adams Street, the Community Health Collaborative office will be focused on community health education, clinical trial participation and outreach, according to a press release. Mayo Clinic will not provide medical care at the location.
“Expanding Mayo Clinic’s footprint into downtown Jacksonville with a dedicated space for community engagement and Mayo Clinic research teams, allows us to fully explore innovative solutions that address the communities’ most pressing health issues,” CEO of Mayo Clinic in Florida Kent Thielen said. “This is truly an exciting time for our teams, and we look forward to reaching more of our community.”
Mayo received a $395,000 permit to buildout the office space on the first floor in March. A five-year lease was approved by City Council for “general office use, administrative and clinical research purposes.”
Services offered at the center include Mayo Clinic Community Engagement Studios, Mayo Clinic Community Research Registry, Community Scientist Program and Community-Engaged Research Advisory Boards.
“The Community Health Collaborative is a positive step toward addressing health disparities and building health equity in our community,” Enterprise Deputy Director, Community Outreach and Engagement, Folakemi Odedina said. “Using an approach that meets people where they are, the downtown site will serve as a ‘hub’ where we’ll work with community organizations and others throughout the city for the health of the people.”
