FloridaCommerce has announced that the unemployment rate for the Jacksonville region was 3.6 percent in April 2025 – unchanged from the previous month. Of the 885,532 people counted as the area’s labor force in April, there were 31,590 unemployed residents in the region – down slightly from 31,957 unemployed residents in March.

                         Regional Employment Update

In April, Nassau County recorded the lowest unemployment rate in the region (3.4 percent), followed by Baker County (3.5 percent), Clay County (3.5 percent), St. John’s County (3.5 percent), Duval County (3.6 percent) and Putnam County (4.2 percent).

The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+ 6,900 jobs); Mining, Logging and Construction (+ 2,000 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+ 1,600 jobs); Trade, Transportation and Utilities (+ 1,300); Government (+ 1,000 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+ 700); Other Services (+ 700 jobs); and Information (+ 200 jobs).

The current top-five most advertised job occupations among all industries in the region included retail salespersons (1,064 positions), first-line supervisors of retail salespersons (970 positions), fast food and counter workers (897), first-line supervisors of food preparation and serving workers (845) and registered nurses (812).
