FloridaCommerce has announced that the unemployment rate for the Jacksonville region was 3.1 percent in October 2023 – unchanged from the previous month.
Of the 917,972 people counted as part of the area’s workforce in October, there were 28,625 unemployed residents in the region – up slightly from 28,090 unemployed residents in September.

Regional Employment Update
“In nearly all industry categories, we’ve experienced year-to-date growth in the number of jobs throughout Northeast Florida,” said CareerSource Northeast Florida President Bruce Ferguson.
Industries gaining jobs over the year included Education & Health Services (8,400 jobs), Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (6,200 jobs), Professional/Business Services (6,200 jobs), Financial Activities (3,200 jobs); Leisure/Hospitality (3,200 jobs), Government (2,600 jobs), Manufacturing (1,800 jobs), and Mining, Logging, and Construction (300 jobs).
In October, St. John’s County continued to record the lowest unemployment rate in the region (2.8 percent), followed by Nassau County (3.0 percent), Baker County (3.1 percent), Clay County (3.1 percent), Duval County (3.2 percent) and Putnam County (4.3 percent).
