FloridaCommerce has announced that the unemployment rate for the Jacksonville region was 4.2 percent in June 2025 – a slight increase from 3.6 percent in May.

Of the 890,186 people counted as the area’s labor force in June, there were 37,176 unemployed residents in the region – up from 32,212 unemployed residents the previous month.

In June, Nassau County recorded the lowest unemployment rate in the region (3.9 percent), followed by Baker County (4.0 percent), St. John’s County (4.0 percent), Clay County (4.1 percent), Duval County (4.2 percent) and Putnam County (4.9 percent).

The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+8,600 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+1,600 jobs); Mining, Logging, and Construction (+1,400 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+1,000 jobs); Government (+1,000 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+500 jobs); Other Services (+300 jobs); and Information (+100 jobs).

The current top-five most advertised job occupations among all industries in the region included retail salespersons (1,070 positions), fast food and counter workers (1031), first-line supervisors of retail salespersons (991 positions), first-line supervisors of food preparation and serving workers (944) and registered nurses (913).

CareerSource NEFL hosts “Recruitment Wednesdays” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – held each Wednesday at its Southside Career Center, located at 11268 Beach Blvd., where job seekers can meet with three-to-six employers hiring for current job openings. Industry-focused Recruitment Wednesdays in August include IT and Finance (Aug. 6), Food Service and Accommodations (Aug. 20) and Manufacturing and Aviation (Aug. 27).

In-person hiring fairs are scheduled at career centers throughout the region – where job seekers can talk one-on-one with employers including Baker Correctional Institute, Military Sealift Command, Petticoat Schmitt Civil Contractors and Union Correctional Institute.

CareerSource NEFL also has a Healthcare Job Fair set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 29 at the Clay County Career Center – and is collaborating with the City of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Transportation Authority, Jacksonville Aviation Authority, Jacksonville Electric Authority, Duval County School District and JAXPORT at the Jax Authority Career Fair: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug 28 at the Bethel Institution Multipurpose Center, located at 215 Bethel Baptist St. in Jacksonville.

The next monthly virtual job fair is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.
