Publix pharmaceutical facility to come to St. Johns County, bring hundreds of jobs (Courtesy of the Florida Times-Union) — Publix plans to bring 400 new jobs and a 168,480-square-foot facility to St. Johns County.
The facility, planned for Legend Point Logistics Crossing industrial park at 200 Accolade Ave., is expected to be operational by the end of 2026. It will be near Nocatee and the intersection of U.S. 1 and County Road 210.
The facility will serve as a central fill pharmaceutical facility, processing raw materials and assembling prescription packages to be dispensed at Publix pharmacies.
The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday approved an economic development reinvestment package of about $5.8 million over a nine-year period for the project.
The $145 million project anticipates seeing its first payment of $646,864 in 2028, according to the grant application.
The Publix facility plans to start with about 115 new jobs in the area.
Isabelle Renault, president and CEO of the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce, said bringing the facility to St. Johns County “is a win for everyone involved.”
“Publix’s investment in the county provides significant tax revenue to support our schools and county for decades to come,” Renault said, “and the 400 new jobs created will provide residents with high quality employment opportunities.”
St. Johns County Administrator Joy Andrews said in a news release that the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners has “resounding support and unwavering commitment” to this project.
JAXUSA Partnership, the county’s regional economic development partner, introduced the project to the St. Johns County Economic Development Department.
The project is “within St. Johns County’s target industries of advanced manufacturing and health/life sciences,” according to a news release.
A date for construction to begin has not been announced yet.
