Report: The need for tech jobs continues to climb in Florida (Courtesy of TampaBayInno) — Information technology trade association CompTIA’s monthly report shows Florida had the biggest jump, with more than 1,100 additional new jobs in April. The Tampa Bay region also had one of the biggest increases for tech jobs, with 210 new postings in April alone. It was among the top 20 metros in the country for tech job growth.
Miami also made the short list, with 309 new jobs in April, for a total of 4,409. Tampa Bay, in comparison, had 3,148 total jobs. Other Florida metros, including Orlando and Jacksonville, were absent from the list.
Dallas had the top tech job growth, with nearly 900 new jobs, followed by Houston and Philadelphia.
Across the nation, job growth fared well across in-person, hybrid and remote settings. More than 32,000 new in-person jobs were added in April, along with roughly 3,700 hybrid positions.
Software developers, data scientists and systems analysts had strong job growth in both in-person and hybrid settings. Florida, surprisingly, did not rank among the top five areas for remote workers — instead, Washington, D.C. came out on top, followed by New York, Chicago, Dallas and Boston.
