Texas-based health care company to build Jax hospital (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — A Texas-based health care company that owns and operates more than 20 facilities in eight states will soon count Jacksonville one of its first Florida locations.
The City of Jacksonville is reviewing a $21 million permit for Nutex Health to construct a one-story, 28,303-square-foot specialty hospital at 12625 Beach Blvd. The health care group expects to break ground in Q2 of this year to be open by fall 2025.
The specialty hospital will be a full-service emergency room and hospital on a smaller scale than the large hospital systems, Nutex Health public relations manager Jennifer Rodriguez told the Business Journal.
Nutex Health’s specialty hospitals are referred to as micro hospitals, which provide year-round, 24/7 medical care. They offer ER services but also observe patients overnight or admit them for an extended stay. The facilities, like the one in the works for Jacksonville, offer drug and alcohol detox services and behavioral services.
The Jacksonville hospital is one of three new hospitals planned for Florida, with one in Miami and another in Starkey Ranch. There are seven other hospitals in the works in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, Idaho and Wisconsin.
BBKR Development Partners LLC, associated with Atlanta-based real estate company Monarch Investments, owns the 8.4-acre property and is listed as the developer on construction plans through Fourth Time Partners LLC. Cph Inc. is listed as the engineer for the project and is based in Jacksonville.
Parkway Construction and Architecture LP, a Texas-based development company, is listed as the general contractor for the project.
