Wolfson Children’s Hospital earns top rating from Leapfrog Group (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — Wolfson Children’s Hospital has been recognized as one of eight top children’s hospitals in the country by The Leapfrog Group — a watchdog organization focused on health care safety and quality.

This year, 134 hospitals earned the Top Hospital Award, including eight Top Children’s Hospitals, 36 Top General Hospitals, 15 Top Rural Hospitals and 75 Top Teaching Hospitals, a total representing less than 6% of all eligible hospitals in the nation.

“Being recognized as one of eight Top Children’s Hospitals in the country by The Leapfrog Group is a profound honor that reflects Wolfson Children’s commitment to providing top-decile care to patients and their families,” said Allegra Jaros, president of Wolfson Children’s, in a release. “This award reflects how we consistently show up for our patients – by staying deeply focused on quality and safety, while ensuring their experience is nothing short of exceptional.”

According to Leapfrog, the “Top Hospital” recognition honors those that demonstrate the highest performance in the nation on quality and patient safety, including ethical billing and informed patient consent procedures, lower infection rates, maternity care safety, prevention of medication errors and surgical safety.

“It is truly a joy to recognize the hospitals and ASCs across the nation that have gone above and beyond in their pursuit of excellence,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, in the release.
