Worldwide IT giant to layoff dozens at Jacksonville office (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — An information technology consultancy company with a worldwide reach is paring down its Jacksonville workforce.

Tata Consultancy Services, otherwise known as TCS, notified the city last week it would lay off 58 employees at 550 Water St., effective Oct. 18, according to a WARN notice filed Aug. 18.

“Eventually, all TCS employees that work at, or report into, this facility will be terminated unless they become employed in another position with TCS,” the company wrote in the letter.

The affected employees are not represented by a union and have no bumping rights.

Though it has less of a presence locally, Tata Consultancy Services has a worldwide reach as India’s largest IT services company and its biggest private sector employer, according to BBC reporting in July.

Headquartered from Mumbai, it’s a digital transformation and technology partner for organizations worldwide, founded in 1968. TCS generated consolidated revenues of $30 billion in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025, according to its website.
