FEC is entering a new agreement for chassis services with TRAC Intermodal, a leading chassis fleet provider in North America, the company said in a statement.

TRAC, which has a location in Jacksonville, is set to stage 53′ domestic chassis directly on FEC terminals along Florida’s east coast all the way down to Miami.

The Grupo México-owned Class II railroad owns mainline track from Jacksonville to Miami, providing exclusive rail service for Port Miami, Port Everglades and Port of Palm Beach.

With a connection to the networks of Class I rail carriers in Jacksonville, FEC serves a variety of facilities along Florida’s Atlantic coast, including the largest aggregate quarries in Medley and several transloading facilities to supply Florida’s fast-growing markets.

TRAC, which is based in Princeton, New Jersey, operates 13 chassis pools across the U.S., and owns the largest fleet of marine chassis on top of an extensive supply of specialty and domestic chassis equipment.

As of 2021, TRAC leased a 23-acre outdoor storage yard at 4419 Imeson Road.

The collaboration is set to support FEC-controlled business and bring a standardized fleet solution for the changing needs of the domestic intermodal market.

The new benefits to FEC include access to a newer chassis fleet with consistent specifications, GPS integration and business rules tailored to the dynamics of individual markets.
