Amazon continues North Jacksonville investment (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Daily Record) — Amazon is preparing to install a material handling system and free-standing rack modules in its 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center under construction in Imeson Park at 10501 Cold Storage Road in North Jacksonville.
The systems total a construction cost of almost $55 million.
In September, the online retailer announced it will open the 500-job Jacksonville fulfillment center in fall 2021 to pick, pack and ship small items, including apparel, accessories and footwear.
VanTrust Real Estate, which owns Imeson Park, is developing the 1.06 million-square-foot building for Amazon on 51.33 acres in Imeson Park, at northeast North Main Street and Zoo Parkway.
Nearby, Amazon Services LLC applied to the city for a Certificate of Use for its 477,946-square-foot delivery station at 250 Busch Drive E. in Imeson International Industrial Park.
The business is described as a center where prepackaged/pre-addressed merchandise is received and re-sorted for delivery by a third-party in the metropolitan area. There are no sales, storage or inventory on-site.
Amazon announced in December it signed a lease at that building for a last-mile delivery station and will hire “hundreds” of employees.
Amazon expects to open the station in 2021.
The city issued a permit in October for build-out.
The two centers are among 12 Amazon facilities open, announced or in review in Northeast Florida.
