Jacksonville firm DL Cabinetry plans new showroom and warehouse in Orlando. Here’s what to know. (Courtesy of the Jacksonville Business Journal) — A Jacksonville-based cabinetry and countertop manufacturer, supplier and wholesaler has plans for a newer, bigger home in metro Orlando.

DL Cabinetry, which has an 18,800-square-foot space at 7025 W. Colonial Drive west of Orlando, has submitted plans with the city to build a new 63,000-square-foot warehouse and showroom at 6500 Narcoossee Road, near Orlando International Airport and the Lake Nona region.

Orlando records show the master plan request for the new facility on 3.86 acres was filed Oct. 23 by Thomas Skelton, of Winter Springs-based American Civil Engineering Co., on behalf of DL Cabinetry CEO Eddie Chen.

A tentative hearing date with the city’s municipal planning board is scheduled for Dec. 19.

Though an estimated project cost was not available, the new facility would require a significant capital investment which would create opportunities for contractors and vendors during construction.

Additionally, the larger showroom and warehouse likely would require more employees, creating jobs, and suggests the company has a desire to expand its presence in Orlando.

Executives for DL Cabinetry and American Civil Engineering Co. did not respond to requests for comment.

The property where the proposed facility would rise is registered to Armstrong Development Investments LLC, an entity registered to Albert Armstrong, contact information for whom was not immediately available. Armstrong Development Investments bought the 3.86-acre property for $1.1 million in October 2019.

DL Cabinetry has locations in New Orleans, Jacksonville, Tampa and Austin, as well as an in-the-works Nashville warehouse that will be its sixth location.

Meanwhile, the current environment for the kitchen and bathroom industries is one which is experiencing a slowdown — but that is primed for a bounce-back, according to the National Kitchen + Bath Association.

According to the trade organization’s third-quarter 2023 Kitchen & Bath Market Index, the 2024 outlook is encouraging despite declines. For instance, 44% of all kitchen and bath firms and 49% of manufacturers expect sales revenue to increase next year.

The report further notes that, in addition to stabilizing pricing for materials, supply chain issues “have nearly vanished.”
