FloridaCommerce has announced that the unemployment rate for the Jacksonville region was 3.6 percent in May 2025 – unchanged from the previous two months.
Of the 885,789 people counted as the area’s labor force in May, there were 32,212 unemployed residents in the region – up from 31,590 unemployed residents in April.

Regional Employment Update
In May, Nassau County recorded the lowest unemployment rate in the region (3.4 percent), followed by St. John’s County (3.5 percent), Clay County (3.6 percent), Baker County (3.7 percent), Duval County (3.7 percent) and Putnam County (4.2 percent).
The industries gaining jobs over the year were Education and Health Services (+7,300 jobs), Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+2,300 jobs), Mining, Logging, and Construction (+1,500 jobs), Government (+1,500 jobs), Professional and Business Services (+800 jobs), Other Services (+600 jobs) and Information (+200 jobs).
The current top-five most advertised job occupations among all industries in the region included retail salespersons (1,037 positions), first-line supervisors of retail salespersons (961 positions), fast food and counter workers (960), first-line supervisors of food preparation and serving workers (826) and registered nurses (801).
