SNAP E & T Program

Did you receive a letter from DCF stating that you need to complete 80 hours of activities each month to retain your benefits? Here’s what you need to do: 

Step 1.

Log on to the One Stop Service Tracking (OSST) client system at osstclient.deo.myflorida.com to set up your account and complete the online orientation and assessment. You will receive a letter informing you of the date this must be done. If you have not received a letter contact us using the information below. 

Important note: You only have 7 days (from the date indicated on your letter) to create your account and complete the orientation and assessment. Your benefits will likely be affected if you don’t complete this step.

Step 2.

Once you have completed the orientation and assessment, schedule an appointment in the OSST client system to meet with a case manager. This appointment will be in one of our one stop centers.

During this intake workshop you will complete paper work, learn about the program and how to start your activity and get your sanction lifted if you have been sanctioned. Please arrive promptly. Preferably 15 minutes early to secure a seat.  You will not be allow entry if you are late and you will have to reschedule for the next available workshop. Required Activities

You are required to complete 20 hours each week - an average of 80 hours each month.

Employment

If you become employed:

  • Contact DCF & CareerSource immediately, DCF can exempt you if you are working 30 hours per week or more.
  • You may not have to participate if you are working 20 -29 hours per week. DCF will make the determination when they receive your employment documentation.
  • If you are working less than 19 hours per week, you will be assigned additional activities to fulfill your 80 per month requirement.

If you are employed more than 20 hours per week, you must provide proof of your employment until you are exempted by DCF. (paystubs /pay record)

Job Search / Job Readiness

You can search for employment:

  • Using Employ Florida  www.employflorida.com or  other employment sites such as indeed, Career Builder or Monster.
  • Attending job fairs and job recruitments.
  • Applying in person. 

Training / Education

You can use the following websites to complete your assigned hours 

  • Attend a vocational training program, enroll in a GED program, use online education sites such as ALISON, which is located on Employ Florida website or 21st CENTURY SUCCESS to increase your basic skills, computer skills, or work place skills.
  • Self -initiated vocational and educational training will be considered; you will need to provide documentation of enrollment on letterhead from your school.
  • Additional online sites can be approved through your case manager. 

Work Experience

  • Must be completed at an approved non-profit organization.
  • We will provide a list for you to choose your preferred worksite.

Work Experience you set up yourself must be pre-approved before you begin logging any hours.

Requesting to have a sanction removed from your case

Imposed/Effective sanctions - If a sanction has been imposed on your case, you must first serve the penalty period before the sanction can be removed. You will receive a letter telling you the date the sanction will start. 

Sanction levels and penalty periods

  • Level 1                   1 month/30 days
  • Level 2                   3 months/90 days
  • Level 3                   6 months/180 days

After you have served the penalty period, call (904) 798-9230 to receive further instructions on what you will need to do to get your sanction (penalty) removed from your case.

If the sanction effective date has not passed you can call (904) 798-9230 to comply with CareerSource NEFL. Remember once the sanction effective date has passed, you have to serve the penalty period before you can comply with CareerSource NEFL.

Transportation Reimbursement Assistance:

If you are interested in receiving help with your job search efforts, participating in activities and receiving Food Stamp Reimbursements (FSRs) to help offset the cost of transportation, please discuss with your SNAP counselor or review the SNAP program activities presentation above.

What if I am going to school?

If you are going to school more than half time (determined by each school) then DCF may exempt you.  If you are going to school less than half time, then those hours may count towards participation.

What if I am working?

If you are working less than that, we may count your work hours towards participation.


I am in a drug or alcohol treatment program or have mental health issues

(It does NOT have to be residential, but it must be more than AA or NA)

The computer system keeps failing/giving me errors. What do I do?

There are a lot of people trying to access the system at the same time.  You have 7 days to complete the orientation and the assessment and schedule an appointment. If you can, try to access the system at different times in the day, including early mornings and/or late evenings.


What do I do if I don’t have a computer?

You can go to any of the CareerSource Centers, your local library or use our mobile access point
